Ditt Thomas Welch Jr.

DITT THOMAS WELCH, Jr., born June 6, 1948, passed away January 26, 2018 in Plano, Texas after complications following a stroke.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ditt and Ellen (Metz) Welch, twin brother Dewitt Marcus, grandparents Ulas and Jessie Welch of Speedwell, Tennessee, and Ervin and Margaret Metz of Graysville, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife Kay Brock Welch, daughter Lesli and husband William Jennings, son Andrew and wife McKenzie and grand-daughter Reghan Welch all of Texas, sister-in-law Terrell Brock of Wisconsin, uncle Bill Alexander and aunt Billie Welch of Tennessee, along with several cousins all special to him, and longtime family friend Polly Graves.

In 1971 he graduated from the University of Tennessee with a bachelors in business and married his wife Kay. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force hoping to become a pilot, ended up working in a missile silo, and after three years took an opportunity for honorable discharge. Then he and his wife moved to Dallas to pursue entrepreneurial businesses. His favorite book was the Bible, he had a heart for helping others, never met a stranger, and enjoyed fellowshipping with friends and family around a meal.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Red Hill Cemetery in Speedwell, Tennessee where it was his request to be laid to rest with the Welches who preceded him in death.
