Herbert “Joe” Brunty Jr, age 76, of LaFollette passed away on Saturday December 9, 2017. Joe was a member of Elm Grove Baptist Church, he enjoyed farming and gardening.

Preceded in death by parents Herbert Brunty, Sr., and Myrtle Morgan Brunty; brothers, Fred Brunty and Ray Brunty; sister, Audrey Belcher, sisters in law, Lenora McCullah and Garneda Anderson; brothers in law, Glen Allen, Charles Allen, and James H. Allen.

Survived by wife of 55 years, Ruby L. Allen Brunty of LaFollette; sisters, Irene Blankenship of Beckley, WV, Millie Klopfer of Boyton Beach, Florida, Virgie Synder of Winston Salem, NC and Jean Myers of Nashville; brother in law, John E. Allen of Knoxville, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Tommy Long and Donna Lucas for their friendship and commitment shown to Joe and Ruby over the years.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM on Monday December 11, 2017 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home, with funeral to follow at 7:00 with Rev. Jerome McCullah officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:15 AM Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home to go in funeral procession to Powell Valley Cemetery for 11:00 AM interment with military honors by the Campbell Co. Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers make donations to Kerbela Shriners or Wounded Warrior Project.
