J.C. also served in the army during WWII.
Early in life, J.C. was self-employed in the logging and sawmill business and later worked in the deep coal mines of TN. In 1957 J.C., along with his wife and three children, moved to Omak, WA where he spent the next 15 years working in the powerhouse at Biles Coleman Lumber Company. 1972 brought a big change when the family moved to Peshastin, WA where J.C. enjoyed the next 23 years working as orchard foreman for Gary Robinson Orchards. J.C. retired in 1995 and he and his wife “Lucy” moved to Rock Island, WA where he took pleasure working in his garden, growing many vegetables for loved ones and friends. Prior to suffering a stroke in June of 2017, J.C. enjoyed walking two miles on most days with his good friend Orville Huff.
