James "Jim" Owens

James Owens, age 81 of LaFollette departed this life Wednesday, March 7, 2018.  He was a member of Stanfield Church of God.  James was a loving husband of 48 years, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He enjoyed elk hunting, fishing, and restoring antique cars. 

He is preceded in death by parents Vester and Elma (Barnes) Owens; daughter Cheryl Coutcher; brothers Charles Owens, Hassel Owens, and Bud Owens; sisters Betty Swain, and Sheila Burgess.

He is survived by wife Mary Owens of LaFollette; sons James Wesley Owens & wife Carol of Grantsboro, John Eric Owens & wife Thekla of Idaho, Charles Oliver Owens Sr., and Justin Lee Owens, both of LaFollette; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 PM – 7 PM Saturday, March 10, 2018 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home followed by funeral service at 7 PM with Rev. Delmus Bruce officiating.  Friends and family will meet 10 AM Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home for the 11 AM interment at Housley Sweat Cemetery.
