Mr. Howard “Thomas” Gillum Sr, 89 190 Weir Woods, Jacksboro, Tn had a Heavenly Homegoing Friday June 27, 2014. Born to the late Tom and Mahala Bell Gillum November 2, 1924 in Manchester, Ky. He was a member of Vasper Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in 2000 Heavenly Homegoing of wife, 55 years, Naomi Beatrice Kitt Gillum, son Stephen “Rodney” Gillum, daughter, the love of his life, Lori Melissa”Missy” Gillum, infant daughter(stillborn) sister Ethel Hignite.

Survived by sisters Edna Overton of Flintstone, GA and Ella Shepherd of LaFollette, sons and wives Rev. James R”Kenny” and Connie of Jacksboro, Rev. Howard “Thomas” Jr and Shirley of LaFollette, Roger “Lee” and Louise of Norris Tn, Michael “Lynn” Pee Wee and Mary of Randolph, Alabama, David “Rusty” and Carolyn of Jacksboro, Joey of Jacksboro, 22 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends to celebrate his Heavenly Homecoming.

Mr. Gillum served as deacon several years at High Street Baptist Church, early age Mr. Gillum, father Tom and brother in law operated small deep mines in KY and TN ,traveled to Baltimore to be employed in the shipyards at th age of 17. Proudly served his USA in the South Pacific Tour, WWII April 1943 thur December 1945 Naval Seaman and mechanic, Mr. Gillum was employed by Oak Ridge Y12 Plant as Safety Instructor, self employed 29 years a mechanic and ar lot owner, work at Blair Fork Coal Co., W H Bowling Coal Co. and Paul Fields Realty

Family will receive friends 5:00-8:00 pm Sunday June 29, 2014 in Martin Wilson Chapel with funeral service to follow with Rev. Davey Gillum, Rev. Mark Gillum, Rev. Howard T. Gillum and Rev. James R”Kenny” Gillum officiating. Interment will be 11:00 am Monday June 30, 2014 in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with Campbell County Honor Guard in charge of graveside service. In lieu of flowers make donations to Campbell County Honor Guard.
