Betty Daugherty Obituary

Betty Jo (Lindsay) Daugherty, 82, of Xenia, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 10, 2018 following a heroic battle against dementia. She was born in Jacksboro, TN on August 14, 1935 to Clyde and Ruth (Shown) Lindsay, who preceded her in death. On December 24, 1954, she married the love of her life, Ernest Daugherty. They were married 32+ years until his death in 1987.

Jo retired from Hooven & Allison in Xenia, OH after many years of service. She loved to read, crochet, knit, keep her grandkids, and travel with her sisters. Her life was dedicated to her family and she thought of us before herself.

Jo is survived by daughter, Cheryl (Gil) Woods, and sons, Steve (Amy) Daugherty, Mark (Kim) Daugherty, and honorary daughter Kristie Boyer. She loved her grandchildren Holly (Mark) Hagerman, Brianne (Adam) Frost, Brandis (Branden) Hillard, Brenna (Marcus) Manchester, Trenton, Tyler, Taylor, Logan, and Travis Daugherty. Her legacy of love continues with her great-grandchildren Mallory (Vance) Cronin, Adrianna, Ashton & Ethan Hagerman, Noah Baker, Baylie, Ivey & Gabriel Jervis, Preston Hillard, Acelyn & Briggen Frost, Carson Beatty, Laila, Imani, & Mallani Woods.

Jo leaves loving sisters, Wilma and Janet Lindsay, both of Jacksboro, along with a multitude of cousins and friends in TN who will dearly miss her. She will be missed by her “out-laws”, Angela Mason, Lynn Daugherty, and Brian Baker.

Jo would like to thank great-granddaughter Mallory Cronin for the excellent homecare given to her so that she could live with Cheryl and Gil. Granny Betty’s life was enhanced and lengthened by your loving care and you were her favorite caregiver ever.

Visitation for Betty Jo will be on Friday, June 15, 2018, 5-7 PM at Martin Wilson Funeral Home, 700 W Central Ave, LaFollette, TN. Her life will be celebrated on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 11 AM at Martin Wilson Funeral Home before burial at Indian Creek Cemetery next to her loving husband.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude’s Hospital, Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society, Hospice of Dayton, or the charity of your choice. Jo was philanthropic to the core and giving to help someone else would be the best tribute she could receive.
