James Edward (Jim) Massengill, age 74, of LaFollette passed away at his home on Tuesday April 3, 2018. He was a member of Duff Baptist Church, a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather that enjoyed spending time with his family, he loved camping and 4-wheeling, and enjoyed attending church. James was proud to serve his country as a Marine during the Vietnam conflict.
Preceded in death by parents John and Betty Harness Massengill, infant son Scott Massengill, daughter Ann Massengill, brother Jack, Gary, Jerry, Clarence and Raymond Massengill, sister Marcelene Madison.
Survived by wife Louise (Wease) Massengill of LaFollette, sons and wives Dennis and Kimberly Massengill of Indiana, James and Rita Massengill, Rocky and Mary Shetterly all of LaFollette, Derrick and Tanya Shetterly of Jacksboro, daughters Melissa Massengill Hobert of Knoxville and Dentina Ward of Indiana, brother Danny and wife Lynn Massengill of Jacksboro, sisters Cleta Adams of Knoxville, Marie Kitts of Clinton, Shelby Jean Long of Corbin, Carolyn Sue Heatherly and husband Ralph of Jacksboro, Melinda Nuzum and Mark of Jacksboro, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 12:00-1:00 pm on Friday April 6, 2018 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home, funeral service will be 1:00 pm with Rev. Don Allen officiating, interment will follow in Powell Valley cemetery.
