Reba Octava “Tava” Jones, age 82 born May 20, 1935 and passed Monday, January 8, 2018.  Like the mighty oak tree, Tava’s life spanned many generations and bore witness to many miracles small and large.  She attributed her strength to her deep roots that lay both Kentucky and Tennessee soil, and were nourished by her immense faith of God.

By her actions her legacy has and will stand the test of time, it’s long shadow has touched so many lives.  She did not spend her life accumulating the wealth of this world, only to be locked away in a box.  Her treasure was clearly her faith, her children and extended family and friends.  And she was not a bit bashful about telling anyone who would listen how wonderful her children are, or how great God is.

Tava is preceded in death by first husband Ray Henegar and second husband Harvey Jones; son David Henegar; grandsons Trinity Henegar and Aiden Johnson.

Tava is survived by sons Kenneth Henegar, wife Shirley of Williamsburg, Kentucky; Bill Henegar & wife Teresa of LaFollette, Ricky Henegar of New Tazewell, Lawrence Henegar & wife Denise of Clinton, Jimmy Henegar & wife Millie of Jacksboro, Eddie Henegar & wife Debbie of LaFollette; daughters Robin Adkins & husband Roger of Jacksboro, Reba Taylor & husband Arvil of LaFollette; brother Lawrence Ball & wife Thelma of South Carolina; sisters Barbara Huff of Jacksboro and Norma Smith of LaFollette; 22 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She could at times, be a woman of few words, because foolishness rarely came from her lips.  If she liked you, it was a true honor and if you were in the wrong, she had that motherly way of setting you straight without mixing words.  She was truly a woman of compassion and conviction and practiced that in her daily life.  She cherished the simple things like a pretty day or a child’s laughter Tava understood and lived God’s commandment to love your brother.

Her clear love for life, like that oak, stands conspicuous and unwavering and will long serve as a constant memorial to her children and family and all who knew her.  She cherished life and lived it fully, with no regrets.  Never dwelling on what she had not, but forever giving thanks for what she had.  She would quickly tell you she was blessed, and she has blessed all of those who were fortunate enough to have had her touch our lives.

Visitation will be 5-7 PM Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Grace Baptist Church followed by funeral service at 7 PM with Rev. Lawrence Henegar officiating.  Friends and family will meet 10:30 AM Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Wolf Creek Cemetery for the interment.
