Robert Calvin Dykes, age 77 of LaFollette passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017.  He was a member of the Evangelistic Center of Clinton, TN.  Robert was a man whose love for God and singing gospel music was unsurpassed.  He sang with The Glory Land Boys, and his family since the 1970’s.  His love for his family was with equal measure.  Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending their ballgames.  He worked as a Mechanic and retired from Consol Mining Corporation.

He is preceded in death by parents Charles and Virginia (Thurman) Dykes; brother Charles and Ronald Dykes; sister Darlyn Jones.

He is survived by wife June Dykes of LaFollette; sons Robert Dykes and wife Brenda of LaFollette, Calvin Dykes and wife Faith of Claxton, and Mark Dykes and wife Tammy of LaFollette; brothers Lowell Dykes and wife Beulah of LaFollette, and Jimmy Dykes of White Oak; sister Shelby Seal and husband Johnny of Caryville; 8 grandchildren Josh, Jessica, Ashley, Jordan, Andrew, Amanda, Grayson, and Chezney; 5 great grandchildren Jek, MaKenna, Bailey, Micah, and Max.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to National Kidney Foundation or East Tennessee Children's Hospital.

Visitation will be 5-8 PM Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home followed by funeral service at 8 PM with Pastor Kenneth Ivey and Associate Pastor David Webster officiating.  Friends and family will meet 10:15 AM Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home for the 11 AM interment in Powell Valley Cemetery.
