William "Bill" Malicoat Obituary

William H. “Bill” Malicoat, age 93 of White Oak, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 6th, 2018 at his home surrounded by family and friends. Bill was born June 14th, 1925 to the late Will and Nellie (Smiddy) Malicoat. Bill was a faithful Christian and servant of the Lord. He was a member and deacon of the Little White Oak Baptist Church. Bill was the oldest charter member of the church ever since January 13th, 1963. Every Sunday Bill would take his Martin guitar in which he loved playing and singing for the Lord. He was always willing to work and help others in anyway possible along life’s journey. After only dating for two weeks, Bill married the love of his life Hazel (Goins) Malicoat on June 28th, 1947 and they were blessed to have over 72 years of marriage together. Hazel went home to be with the Lord just 69 days ago, on May 29th, 2018. Bill worked as a coal miner for Double Q Coal Company for many years. He was also a veteran of United States Army and served his country with honor during World War II, where he received two bronze stars for exceptional bravery and other medals as well. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, whom was loved dearly.

In addition to his parents and loving wife, Bill was preceded in death by son, Donnie Malicoat; sisters, Parlie Bolton, Lou Malicoat, Annie Bratcher, Bessie Hillberban, Carolyn Womble, and Rosie Malicoat; brothers, Dock, Hiram, Monroe, and Winston Malicoat.

Bill is survived by grandchildren, Russell “Jabo” Malicoat and wife, Stacy, April Bryant and husband, G.B. Jr., and Dawn Ivey all of White Oak; great grandchildren, Kristen Malicoat, Noah Jeffers and wife, Regan, Gunner Bryant, Kaleb Malicoat and wife, Brittany, McKinley Bryant, Jerney Ivey, Karlie Malicoat, and Bentley Bryant; great-great grandchildren, Levi Malicoat, Eli Malicoat, and Everleigh Rae Jeffers; daughter in law, Majorie Green of White Oak; sister, Ethel Haywood of Denver, Colorado; sister in law, Lorene (Malicoat) Marlow of White Oak; brother in law, Otis Goins and wife, Ellie of White Oak; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and his church family.

Visitation for Bill will be Friday, August 10th, 2018 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be Saturday, August 11th, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Little White Oak Baptist Church with Rev. Adam Gulley, Rev. Bo Freeman, Bro. Clyde Davis and Rev. Larry Kitts officiating. Graveside Service will follow the funeral at Oddfellow Cemetery with military honors presented by the American Legion Post #154.

Pallbearers will be Jerney Ivey, Noah Jeffers, Gunner Bryant, Kaleb Malicoat, Daniel Partin, Travis Malicoat and Donny Day.
