Alma Gray Sulfridge

Alma Gray Sulfridge went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 surrounded by loved ones.  Alma was born on August 18, 1928, near Pineville, Kentucky.  She enjoyed going to church and was of the Baptist faith.  Her favorite pastime was being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren!

She met the love of her life Hubert Sulfridge following his return from serving in the U.S. Army in World War 2.  They were married September 5, 1947 at the Pineville, Kentucky Court House.  The couple had three daughters, Dianna Parker (husband Michael) of Pineville, Kentucky, Donna Arnold (husband Rick) of Frederick, Maryland, and Janet Tate (husband "Lefty") of Statesville, North Carolina.  They had two sons, Jim Wilson (wife Rosie) of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Jim Gray (deceased).

Hubert's surveying job with the federal government took the couple and their three daughters to over 40 states throughout the U.S. moving as often as every 4-6 months.  They enjoyed making new friends and seeing new places.  Hube and Alma finally settled down in their first real home on Norris Lake near Lafollette in 1976 and the two of them enjoyed 20 wonderful years until Hube passed in 1996.  Alma remained in her home until 2020 when she began living with her daughters.

The family will receive friends in the chapel of Martin-Wilson Funeral home at 305 E. Beech Street in Lafollette on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, from 12 noon to 1PM.  Pastor Jerry Combs will perform the service at 1PM followed by interment at nearby Woodlawn Cemetery in Lafollette.
