Arlis Chapman

Arlis Chapman, age 91 of LaFollette, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 11, 2021. He was born March 18, 1929 in LaFollette to the late Blaine and Ollie (Floyd) Chapman. Arlis was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. He was United States Marine Corp. Veteran, who served in the Korean War. Arlis was employed with the Campbell County School System for over 40 plus years, where he was a teacher, supervisor and principal. One of his greatest accomplishment's was when he served as the Campbell County School Superintendent from 1992 to 1996, which he took great pride in. He also served as a County Commissioner in the 1980's. The Campbell County High School softball field was dedicated in his honor in May of 1996, which is called the "Arlis Chapman Field".

In addition to his parents, Arlis is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Marie Chapman; daughter, Gail Pistello; grandson, Sammy Richardson; brothers, Ray, Lottus, and Harold Chapman; sisters, Ruby Chapman and Estis Lawson.

Arlis is survived by his loving daughters, Shelia Strunk and husband, Michael of Huntsville, Karen Miller and husband, David of LaFollette, Melinda Richardson and husband, Sam of Jacksboro; ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, one special grandson, Holden, two great-great grandchildren and one more on the way; several nieces, nephews, and host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, January 15th, 2021 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow visitation at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. Kevin Reynolds and Rev. Tim Dupuy officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 A.M. on Saturday, January 16th, 2021 at the funeral home to go in funeral procession to Bakers Forge Cemetery for an 11:00 A.M. interment with military honors presented by the Campbell County Honor Guard.
