Arvel McGhee, age 94, of Jacksboro passed away on Monday, November 25th, 2013. He was a member of Lake View Baptist Church. Arvel served under General Patton in the 7th armored division in the Battle of the Bulge during WWII. He was a very loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather that enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, gardening, and hunting or anything to do with the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents Howard & Rhoda (Bullock) McGhee; wife Nadean Teague McGhee; brothers Oliver and Charlie McGhee; and sisters Myrtle Ward, Mary Byrge, and Alice McGhee.
He is survived by his sons David McGhee & wife Tracy of Powell and Wayne McGhee & wife Donna of Jacksboro; daughter Brenda Gross & husband Tim of Oklahoma; brothers Marshall McGhee & wife Shirley of Caryville, Clyde McGhee & wife Brenda of Knoxville, George McGhee & wife Mary of Caryville; sister Lizzie McKamey of Caryville; 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 800 pm on Friday, November 29th, 2013 in the Martin Wilson Chapel. Funeral service will follow the visitation with Rev. Earl Chapman and Rev. Roger Stanley officiating. Interment with be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 30th, 2013 at Campbell Memorial Gardens with the Campbell County Honor Guard in charge of the graveside service.
