Bobby Joe Whatley, age 73, passed away on November 8, 2022 at Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital. Bobby was born on November 2, 1949 in Pikeville, Kentucky, son of James and Georgie (Justice) Whatley. Bobby married his wife Joane on March 25, 2011. They traveled to Tennessee for years, and stayed 2-3 months at a time. Bobby loved to work on cars, auto auctions, golf, and most of all he loved his grandchildren and family. He also cherished his relationship with his best friend Albert Baker from Carthage, TN.


Bobby is survived by his wife Joane (Baker), children; Geana (Randy) Woodard of Indianapolis, Gary Whatley of Indianapolis, Bobby Whatley of Indianapolis, James (Becky) Whatley of Indianapolis. Brothers; Don (Evon) Whatley of Armada, Grady (Susan) Whatley of Chesterfield, MI as well as 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his sister, Brenda (Stephen) Barnes of Henderson, NV.


Family and friends will meet at Valley View Cemetery in Elk Valley on Wednesday November 16, 2022 at 1 PM for graveside services. Military Honors will be provided by the Jellico Honor Guard and the Campbell County Honor Guard.


The family has entrusted the care of Bobby Joe Whatley to Martin Wilson Funeral Home "Where Families Matter Most."
