Burton Mccoy Shelton

Burton McCoy "Pood" Shelton, age 85, of Caryville passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2013. He was a loving husband of 65 years that enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his sons, fishing, hunting, and anything to do with the outdoors. He also enjoyed sitting under the apple tree in his chair with his dog Prince by his side.

He was preceded in death by his parents William Sterling & Callestine (Bruce) Shelton; infant sons Chester & Kevin Shelton; brothers Lloyd "Bud", Foister Lee, Oscar Hewitt, twin brother Burgin Deloy "Muv", Johnny Lester, & James Shelton; and sisters Pernie Gwin, Laura Sharp, Sarah Evans, & Lilly Shelton.

He is survived by his wife Vivian Shelton of Caryville; sons Lendon Shelton & wife Debbie of Caryville, Mitchell Shelton & wife Freida and Roland Shelton all of Jacksboro, and Darrell Shelton & wife Shirley of Wartburg; grandchildren Felicity, Fallon, Marcus, Christopher, Tosha, Siera, & Brent; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers Pete Shelton & wife Bonnie of Caryville and Don Shelton & wife Brenda of Jacksboro; and sisters Jessie Shelton of Caryville and Becky Howard & husband Doug of Lake City.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 6th, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Martin Wilson Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow the visitation at 8:00 pm with Rev. Justin Phillips & Rev. Delmus Bruce officiating. Interment will be held on Saturday, September 7th, 2013 at 11:00 am at Broyles Cemetery.
