Carl Prater

March 7, 1918 — January 21, 2009

Carl William "Dope" Prater age 90 of LaFollette passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the St. Mary's Medical Center in Campbell Co. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jacksboro. Mr. Prater was the former owner of Prater Chevrolet and Cadillac of LaFollette. Mr. Prater was a member of Masonic Lodge of Jacksboro and Former Chairman of LaFollette Medical Center and numerous clubs and organizations. He served with 236th Combat Engineer Battalion in Burma and India.

Preceded in death by Parents: Joseph Silas and Katherine Isley Prater. Brother: Milum Prater. Sisters: Mable Findley and Aileen Prater.

Survived by his wife of 62 years Nancy Louise Prater of LaFollette. Sons and Daughters in Law: Wayne and Judy Prater of Jacksboro. Lynn and Toni Prater of LaFollette. Daughter and Son in Law: Lisa and Mark Dusty Bullock of Caryville. Grandchildren: Carl Prater, Jill Brown, John Prater, Jenny Lynn Nelson, Grant Taylor, Justin Taylor, Jacob Bullock, and Kaitlin Bullock. 6 Great Grandchildren. And a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be 8 PM Friday, January 23, 2009 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. John Bowman, Rev. Don Martin and Rev. William H. Longmire officiating. Interment will be 1 PM Saturday, January 24 in Jacksboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 PM Friday night before funeral service.

Pallbearers will be his Grandsons: Carl Prater, John Prater, Grant Taylor, Justin Taylor, Jacob Bullock, Jason Brown, Shannon Nelson, and Westin Brown. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Former Prater Chevrolet Employees.
