Charles Edwin Cox

Charles Edwin Cox age 81 of LaFollette, TN passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2011. He was born on March 7, 1930. He was a longtime member of the LaFollette Golf & Country Club, an avid UT sports fan and loved Norris Lake. His family was his life, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene Rollie and Ethel Smith Cox, substitute parents Carl and Iona Higdon, and brother C.B. Higdon

He is survived by his wife June Cox of LaFollette, TN, daughters Scott Younce and husband Brian of LaFollette, TN and Robin Rutherford Barnhill of Knoxville, TN, brother Bill Cox and wife Syondra of LaFollette, TN, brothers Jack Higdon and wife Liz, Jerry Higdon and wife Becky, Ron Higdon and wife Peggy, Sam Higdon and wife Pam, sister Vera Jo Henegar and husband Howard, grandchildren Caroline and Emme Younce, Charles "Koz" Barnhill, Jessica Barnhill, Ashley Barnhill, and their father David Barnhill, and many other family members and special friends. A special thanks to Dr. Hannah & staff of UT Medical Center and Dr. Isber & staff.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Fincastle Methodist Church with Dr. Kenneth Faught officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Fincastle Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the UT Hospital Cancer Research Department. Pall bearers will be David Barnhill, Bob Nicholson, John Snodderly, Rick Hunley, Bill Henegar, Billy Paul, James Campbell, and Eric Robbins.
