Charles Edward "Smokey" Oakes passed away Sunday, April 04, 2010 at Mercy Hospice in Knoxville. Charles never met a stranger and loved his family very much. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, turkey shooting, working on cars and playing cards.

Preceded in death by Son: Paul Edward Oakes. Parents: Jasper and Ruby Oakes.

Survived by Wife: Phyllis Oakes of Jacksboro. Son: Phillip Oakes of Andersonville. Daughters: Joyce Cook of Brunswick, Ohio. Jill Oakes and Dale Leach of Clinton. Grandchildren: Timothy and Jeffery Cook, Jordan Oakes, Samantha Lee, and TJ Brown. Great Granddaughter: Alexandra Conley. Brothers: Raymond Oakes of Caryville. Clifford Oakes of Caryville. David Oakes of Jacksboro. Eugene Oakes of Jacksboro. Fred Oakes of Jacksboro, and Tommy Oakes of Oneida. Sisters: Mary Lou Marlow of Jacksboro. Shelby Perciful of Caryville, and Nadine Oakes of Caryville. Several Nieces, Nephews and a host of Relatives and Friends.

Funeral service will be 8 PM Wednesday, April 7 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Hobert McCreary officiating. Interment will be 11 AM Thursday in Jacksboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Wednesday night before funeral service.
