Clifford Melton Lay

Clifford Lay Jr. age 86 of Jacksboro passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Summitt View Nursing Home in Lake City. He was of the Baptist Faith and a member of Cumberland View Baptist Church of Jacksboro. Mr. Lay served in the Navy during World War II for 3 years and was a Mason belonging to Grand Lodge 778.

Preceded in death by Father: Clifford Lay Sr. ( Former sheriff of Campbell Co.) Mother: Gertrude Alexander Lay.

Survived by Wife of 35 years: Alma Lay. Son and Daughter in Law: Clifford A. and Margaret Lay. Son: Harvey Lay. 3 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. Brother: Glen Lay and Wife: Helen. Sisters: Betty Mars of Williamsburg, KY. Wilma Linkous and Husband Fred of Cleveland, TN. 3 Nieces and 5 Nephews. Sisters in Law: Chrestene Bess and Husband: George of McMinnville, TN. Meldred Marshall and Husband: Elven of MI. Glenda Borne of Chattanooga, TN. Brothers in Law: Robert Borne and Wife: Doris of TN. David Borne of TN.

Funeral service will 8 PM Friday June 5 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Bobby Ray Wilson officiating. Interment will be 11 AM Saturday in Woodlawn Cemetery with the Campbell Co. Veterans to conduct grave side services. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:50 PM with a Masonic service to follow.
