Delphia Morton Eldridge

June 12, 1932 — March 11, 2016

Delphia Morton Eldridge, born June 12, 1932 to E.L. and Jane Boshears Morton of the LaFollette, Demory community, passed away on March 11, 2016 at Tennova LaFollette Nursing Home. Mrs. Eldridge graduated from Jacksboro High School and attended the University of Tennessee. She taught school at times, and also, worked at Campbell County Health Department for twelve years. She was a member of Demory Baptist Church for 73 years and served her church in many categories faithfully.


She was preceded in death by parents, seven sisters, and two brothers. Josie Bell Morton Overbey and husband Ed; Adele Morton; Maureen Morton Shown and husband Earl; Saralina Morton Buckner and husband Fred; Ruby Vermon Morton, teacher; Helen Morton Bullock Grant and husbands Paris Bullock and Lloyd Grant; Wilma Morton Allen and husband Burgin; George Franklin Morton; Albert Morton and wife Samuela; and brother-in-law Lewis P. Wynn.


She is survived by her husband, of 64 years, Douglas C. Eldridge; sister Novella Wynn; brother Robert Morton and wife Lani; daughter Vera Eldridge Lasley and husband Kyle; and son Charles D. Eldridge and wife Chandria. Grandchildren Daniel Lasley and wife Mandy; Elria Eldridge; Elizabeth Lasley; and Ashley Eldridge Bowlin and husband Derik. Great-grandchildren Josh and Jacob Lasley; Sarah, Isaiah, and Noah Kitts; Kaeleen England, and Alarik Bowlin, many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and a host of friends.

Visitation for Mrs. Eldridge will be from 6-8 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home Sunday, March 13, 2016. The body will lie in state at the church from 10:00 - 10:30 AM with the funeral service to follow Monday, March 14, 2016 at Demory Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Freeman and Brother Robert Morton officiating.


The family would like to thank Tennova LaFollette Nursing Home and LaFollette Assisted Living for their dedication to Delphia since 2012.
