Dunavon Eads

Retired Lt. Col. Dunavon Eads age 77 passed away at home Saturday January 31, 2009. He was born June 26, 1931 in Laredo, TX to Aubrey Eads and Ethel Puster Eads Dibrell.

He graduated from Texas A&M University Battery "B" Field Artillery in 1952. Mr. Eads retired from the US Army in 1972 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel after serving one tour of duty in the Korean War and serving three tours of duty in the Vietnam War. He was in various divisions -  Artillery, 101 Airborne Division and the Green Berets. He retired from the Social Security Administration as a Field Represenative in 1993.

Mr. Eads was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Sheryl Eads and a son Keith Eads.

Survivors include his wife Gloria Lunsford of Jacksboro; daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth "Lisa" and Mark Dixon of Benton, Arkansas; sons and daughter-in-laws John Aubrey "Jack" and Agaytha Eads of Whitney, TX, Chris and Rita Haskins of St. Agatha, Maine, Michael H. Eads of Lula, GA and James D. Eads of Jacksonville, FL. and a daughter-in-law Tina Eads of Gurley, Alabama; six grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service is to be held in the spring in the Hill Country of Texas among the Blue Bonnets.
