Earl D Martin

Earl Martin, age 93 of Tyrone, GA., passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016. He spent 26 years in the United States Army and 20 years teaching ROTC at South Cobb High School in Georgia. While serving in the United States Army, Earl was presented with a Silver Star, 2 Bronze stars one with cluster an V device, and was given 2 purple hearts one with oak leaf cluster with 2nd award accommodation ribbon. Mr. Martin was active in the European theater with 5 battle stars, Presidential unit citation with oak leaf cluster 2nd award, Korean unit citation, and Good conduct medal with 8 knots.

Preceded in death of his spouse, Mildred (Benge) Martin; son Earl Martin, Jr.; parents Matthew and Amanda (Eldridge) Martin.

He is survived by son Ronald Martin and wife DeAnne Martin; daughter- in- law Michelle Martin; grandchildren Jennifer, Conner, and Matthew Martin.

A visitation for Mr. Martin will be held from 6-8 Friday, March 11, 2016. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 12, 2016 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Sampson Ridenour officiating. The burial will follow the service to Oak Grove Cemetery.
