BYRD, Jr., Fairl H. age 91 of Dayton, OH passed away on Friday, Sept. 4 at The Laurels of West Carrollton nursing home. He was born on October 13, 1923 in Pioneer, TN, the son of the late Fairl Sr. and Della (Cross). He was a retired carpenter. He was preceded in death by his brothers: David "Kelly" Byrd, Herbert Byrd, Kenneth Byrd, Clyde "Willard" Byrd, Lowell Byrd; and his sisters: Artha (Byrd) Lay, Lola (Byrd) Robinson and Effie (Byrd) Lloyd. He is survived by his best friend and companion, James O. Babb of Dayton; great-niece Twana (Dale) Epperson of Goode, VA; and host of other relatives and friends. Fairl was a WWII veteran and worked in Oak Ridge on the Manhattan Project. He worked on the TVA before moving to Dayton to begin his career with Huber Homes. After retirement, Fairl enjoyed going to yard sales, estate sales and spending time with his friends every Wednesday at Golden Corral. Fairl was of the Baptist faith. Visitation for Fairl will be Sunday 9:30 am with the funeral following at 10:30 am at Martin-Wilson Funeral Home in LaFollette, TN. Asbury Byrd will be officiating. Fairl will be interred at Fairview Cemetery in Straight Fork, TN immediately after the funeral.
