Flora Mae Wilson

Flora Mae (Ward) Wilson, age 89, of Caryville passed away on Friday, April 26, 2013 at the North Knoxville Medical Center. She was born on December 6, 1923 to the late Eli Ward and Maggie (Swicegood) Ward. She was a dedicated member of Little Cove Creek Baptist Church. For many years the family would travel to church singings on Saturday nights. Over the years very few things hindered the trip to a Saturday night singing. After the death of her husband, the love of her life, she continued to sing, most of the time in the church choir. She loved life and being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carlie Wilson; son Dennis Wilson; sisters Dora Crutchfield, Willie Lindsay, Bessie Wilson, & Minnie Grodeman; brothers Roby Ward, Arthur Ward, & John Ward.

She is survived by her son Merrill & wife Wanda Wilson of Arcanum, OH; daughters Patricia & husband James (Ronnie) Rogers of Caryville, Sharon & husband Gary Tackett of Lake City, and Magdaline & husband Arnold Nelson of Caryville; daughter-in-law Rita Jordan; grandchildren Scotty Wilson of Arcanum, OH, Ronald & wife Lucy Rogers of Caryville, Stephanie Tackett of Knoxville, Derrick Wilson & Jessie of Kingston, Chris & wife Abbie Wilson, Ashley Nelson, and Megan Nelson all of Caryville; six great-grandchildren; and a host of other family & friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 28th, 2013 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm in the Martin Wilson Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Bro. Chris Wilson & Rev. Jeff Hawkins officiating. There will be a private interment. The family would like to thank all those involved in the care and compassion given to Flora Mae Wilson.
