Gene Mattie, age 82, of Lafollette passed away Saturday November 19, 2011 at his home.
Gene was a member of the Lafollette Masonic Lodge and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of LaFollette. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, avid coonhunter, and fishing. Gene loved reading and watching all college sports.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Mattie and Maude Grant, 1St wife Bobbie Starrett Mattie, infant son Gary Wendell, and brother Dick Mattie.

He is survived by wife Wanda Mattie, sons Greg and wife Devona Mattie of Lafollette, Stan and wife Jane Mattie of Lafollette, Wes and wife Patti Mattie of Lafollette, Brad and wife Dana Mattie of Jacksboro, daughter Stacey and husband Randy Brown of Jacksboro. Other survivors include brothers Hillard Mattie of Williamsburg Ky, and Dillard Mattie of Oneida Tn and sisters Jewell McGhee of Jacksboro, Barba Vermillon of Jellico, JoAnn Wormesley of Caryville, 14 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and several nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral service for Mr. Mattie will be Monday, November 21st at 7:00 pm in the First Presbyterian Church of LaFollette with Rev. Bill Morris officiating. Internment will be Tuesday, November 21st, at 11:00 am in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Gene.
