Gladys Blackwell, age 89 of Caryville went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 4, 2009 at the St. Mary's Hospice in Halls. She was a member of Light House Fellowship Church of God in Caryville. She was a loving mother and grandmother and lived for her church and her kids. Mrs. Blackwell liked to crochet, sew and knit. She also liked working in her yard and garden. Gladys liked to mow her lawn and cleaning new ground.

Preceded in death y Husband: Millard Blackwell. Son and Daughter in Law: Merle and Elizabeth Blackwell. Parents: James and Mollie Blankenblicker Sheffield. Brother: Smith Sheffield. Sisters: Minnie Ausbine, Maggie Ausbine, Roxie McLin and Georgia Watson.

Survived by Son and Daughter in Law: Charles Ray and Virginia Blackwell of Caryville. Daughter and Son in Law: Sue and Luster Simpson of Caryville. Granddaughters and Husbands: Anita and Kevin Porter and Debbie and Tony Spencer of Jacksboro. Grandson: Merle Blackwell Jr. of Baltimore, MD. Great Grandson: Ryan Smith. Sister: Juanita McKinney of Glen Burnie, MD. Special Sister in Law: Tressie Sheffield. 5 loving grandchildren by marriage. Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 8 PM Tuesday, July 7, 2009 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Ralph Combs officiating. Interment will be 11AM Wednesday in Queener Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday night before funeral service.
