Howard Teague, 90, of Knoxville, formerly of LaFollette, passed into eternal rest surrounded by his family on April 11. He grew up in Clear Fork Hollow at Eagan, Tennessee, where his family ran a country grocery store, raised cattle, and harvested timber from Teague Mountain. As an adult he lived in LaFollette where he ran a grocery store, developed real estate, and worked as a building inspector for Guay and Associates, Architects.. In 1997 he moved to Powell after the death of his wife to live with his daughter, Tommye Sue. In 2004 he resided with daughter Jane after the death of her husband. He was a member of First Baptist Church in LaFollette, but often attended Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Powell as his health permitted. Preceded in death by wife, Evelyn Gray Teague; parents Gillis and Mary Ida Teague; sisters Joan Teague, Myrtle Millard, Helen Sharp, and Lenna Hatmaker; brothers Charles and Varnell Teague; son-in-law Gerald McFarland. Survivors include daughters Tommye Sue McGinnis and husband Gary and Jane McFarland; granddaughter Leann Foley and husband Brent; sister Bobbie Jean Teague; several nieces and nephews. He was privileged to include in his family and love as his own grandchildren Robert Boshears, Kristin McGinnis, and Christopher (Little Man) McGinnis. The family thanks those who helped to care for him, especially Dr. Brad Flaming, nurse Tina, and St. Mary's Hospice.
A celebration and worship service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. The Reverend Dr. Thomas Sweet, Reverend Don Sweet, and Reverend Fran Vickers officiating. Martin Wilson Funeral Home of LaFollette in charge. Memorials may be given to Lost Sheep Ministry and Campbell County Animal Shelter.
