James Roger Hunley

James Roger Hunley, age 85 of Pioneer, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 3, 2021. He was born in Caryville, TN on May 9, 1936. He was a loving husband of 66 years, a father, and a grandfather. Roger enjoyed working in his garden, cookouts with family and friends, and going fishing.  He was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church and a faithful worker in the Food Pantry Ministry. Roger was a committed past master of Campbell County Masonic Lodge #778 for 15 years and a member of Caryville Lodge #665 for 22 years. Roger was also an US Navy Veteran with an honorable discharge.

Roger is proceeded in death by his parents; James D. and Birdie Ward Hunley; 7 brothers. 3 sisters, and daughter Deborah Kay Kidd.

He is survived by his wife Shella J. (Loyd) Hunley of Pioneer, TN; sons Kenny and Melissa Hunley of Tazwell, TN, Mark and Robin Hunley of Norris, TN, and Adam and Allison Hunley of Pioneer, TN; son-in-law Don Kidd; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 10 great-great children; several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends to mourn his passing.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:45 PM on Friday, August 6, 2021, in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with a Masonic Service to start at 2:45 PM with funeral service to follow with Rev. Tony McAfee and Brother Gilbert Lay officiating. Interment will follow funeral service at Harness Cemetery.
