Jerry Hughett

June 11, 1942 — July 4, 2016

Jerry Hughett, age 74, finished his race on Monday, July 4, 2016 at his residence in Hendersonville, TN. while surrounded by his loved ones.

Jerry was born on June 11, 1942 in Campbell County, TN. to the late Arthur Lynn (A.L.) & Lois Hughett.

Jerry grew up in the foothills of Campbell County where his love for the outdoors grew into a passion, as he loved to spend time in the mountains and spending time with his family and friends. After High School on Campbell County, Jerry graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Lincoln Memorial University and continued the Master's Degree program at the University of Tennessee to prepare for his career as a social worker. His career began as a school teacher before relocating to Nashville, TN. where he became the Director of Licensing in the Department of Children Services for the State of Tennessee. He dedicated his life to serving others and providing a helping hand to those in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Evelyn Hughett and Lorene Carter. He is survived by his brothers, Paul Hughett of Jacksonville, FL and Dr. Junior Hughett of Detroit, MI.

Left to honor Jerry, are his faithful wife of 47 years, Katherine Hardwick Hughett, two sisters, Margaret Hughett of LaFollette, TN. and Betty Muse of Jacksboro, TN.   Jerry was the loving father of three children, Lynn Hughett of Fredrick, MD., Laura Johnson of Elizabethton, TN., and Jeremy Hughett of Hendersonville, TN.  He was also the proud grandfather to Kaitlyn & Camryn Fontenot of Elizabethton, TN.






The family will be receiving friends at the Martin-Wilson Funeral Home followed by a Celebration of Life Service to be held at Martin-Wilson Funeral Home (700 W Central Ave, LaFollette, TN.) on Thursday - July 7, 2016 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, followed by funeral services at 8:00pm with the Rev. Arley Muse officiating.  Graveside services will take place at Evans Cemetery in Jacksboro, TN. on Friday - July 8, 2016 at 10:00am. Active Pallbearers will be Junior Hardwick, Dwight Deel, Adam Deel, Roy Smith, Michael Smith, and Dan Davenport. Honorary Pallbearers are the associates of the Department of Human Services Credit Union in Nashville, TN., members of the Alive Hospice Team in Madison, TN. for their attentiveness and loving care, and members of the local chapter of the Scottish Rite Masonic Lodge of Campbell County, TN.

Martin Wilson Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
