Jerry Donald Sharp

Jerry Donald "JD" Sharp, age 86, passed away December 11, 2022.  JD was a lifetime resident of Campbell County. He was born in Caryville and grew up at Block Mountain and Grantsboro. As a young man he worked for railroads in Toledo, Ohio, initially as a basic laborer and quickly advanced to supervisory positions, eventually retiring as an executive for CSX Transportation after a 40-year career.  Outside of work, JD enjoyed playing his guitar and singing country music, fishing, and traveling.

JD is preceded in death by his parents, Narvil Sharp and Maxie Goodman Sharp, sisters Cleda Nelson and Edna Sharp, brothers Clifford, Virgil and Larry, and his son Darrell Glen Sharp.

He is survived by his sister Maxine Chapman and his sons, Jerry Donald Sharp, Jr. and Duane Edward Sharp, his granddaughter Andrea Heatherly and grandson Aron Sharp, and two great grandchildren, Madison and Mason Capps, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
