John Earl Edwards

John "Sonny" Earl Edwards, age 82, of LaFollette passed away on Sunday, October 5th, 2014. He was a Deacon for over 30 years at Ford Town Baptist Church. He was a very loving husband of 63 years, father, and brother that enjoyed singing in church and was a member of The Friendly Four singing group from start to finish. He was a Navy 1st Class Chief Petty Officer on the USS Petrel Submarine Rescue.

He was preceded in death by his father John Earl Edwards, mother Helen Marie (Douglas) Shea, sister Katherine "Toots" Irwin, half-sister Charlotte Edwards, and brother-in-law Dorman Morgan.

He is survived by his wife Wilma Edwards of LaFollette; son Larry Edwards of LaFollette; brothers Charles Randall Edwards & wife Clara and John W. Edwards & wife Lovena all of LaFollette; half-brothers Jeff Edwards of Naples, FL and JE and Mike Edwards both of Hazard, KY; sisters Peggy Chinn of Williamsburg, Deloris Morgan of LaFollette, and Willa Hall & husband Bill of Jellico; and half-sister Susan Barnett of Hyden, KY.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 8th, 2014 in the Martin Wilson chapel with the funeral service to follow with Rev. Tim Dupuy officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 9th, 2014 at Woodlawn Cemetery. Campbell County Honor Guard is in charge of graveside services.
