John Wood

John Wood, age 79, of Jacksboro passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at LaFollette Medical Center. He was a member, Deacon, and Sunday school teacher at Cumberland View Baptist Church for 40+ years. John with his brother Clayton farmed and operated Wood Brothers Slaughter House for 50 years. John and his wife Louise were in charge of the youth group at the church for 41 years. He has been a member of Farm Bureau for 50 years and he and his brother Clayton was Farmer of the Year in 1958.

He was preceded in death by his parents Everette & Margaret (Shown) Wood, wife of 50 years Louise Wood, brothers Clayton and Theodore Wood and sisters Alfa Jean Level and Betty Provins.

He is survived by his nieces Teresa Level, Jean Ann Wood, LeAnne Wilson and Brandy Wilson Mott; nephews Jimmy, Joe and John Wood and Eric Wilson; brother-in-law Rev. Bobby Ray Wilson & wife Rose Lynn of Maryville; sister-in-law Janice Wilson of Jacksboro; special friends Michael Brock & wife Pam, Joe Nelson & wife Judy and Dan Ellison & wife Dorothy and a host of cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Cumberland View Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow with Rev. Bobby Ray Wilson officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Cumberland View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Cumberland View Baptist Church In Care Of Reid Leach PO Box 829 Jacksboro, TN 37757.
