John Thomas Young

John Thomas Young, age 84, of LaFollette went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 9, 2015. He attended church at Covenant Life Church in Rocky Top, TN. He was a retired machinist - oiler & lubricator for K-25 Plant in Oak Ridge, TN. Prior to that he worked at General Motors, Ternstadt-Fisher Body Plant in Detroit, MI until relocating to the Grantsboro Community in 1973.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar "Edd" & Katheryn "Rose" (Walker) Young, wife Betty Ruth (Roberts) Young, great-granddaughter Ivey Grace Vinsant, brother Billy Eugene Arden and aunt Helen (Walker) Neeley.

He is survived by his son John Thomas Young, Jr. & wife Melissa from Pinckney, MI and daughters Marilyn Harris & husband Woodrow from LaFollette, Sharon Young from LaFollette, Debra Nelson & husband Mitchell from Knoxville and Cathy Sprouse & husband Jerry from Powell. John also leaves behind his beautiful granddaughter Debra Vinsant who was his caretaker and held a very special place in his heart. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Sunday, April12, 2015 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow with Rev. Wade Walls & Rev. Jason Heatherly officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 13, 2015 at Pond Cemetery.
