Joyce Osborne Schmidlin, age 90 of Caryville passed away on December 24, 2015 at LaFollette Medical Center. She enjoyed teaching, reading, and spending time with her family, especially her dogs.

She is preceded in death by parents William Oscar & Katherine (Dodson) Osborne; husband Emile "Lee" Schmidlin Jr.; son David William Schmidlin; sisters Carolyn L. Osborne, and Gladys Hillenbrand & husband Joseph.

She is survived by son Brian "Chris" Schmidlin & wife Regina of Caryville; granddaughters Lisa Leigh Schmilden of Caryville, Tara Ward & family of Powell, and Tiffany Lowe of Caryville; grandson Joshua Schmidlin & family of Jacksboro; nephew Stephen Hillendbrand & family of Knoxville, and Jim Hillenbrand & family of Alabama.

Joyce wants to help after death to help after her death, so she donated her body to the Quillen Medical Center at ETSU in Johnson City
