Lori Melissa "Missy" Gillum, age 41 of Jacksboro passed away Thursday, January 1, 2009 at the St. Mary's Health and Rehab of Campbell County. She was a member of Vasper Baptist Church. She was involved in 1st telethon cerebral palsy and sang in the choir at church. She was a member of ECP in WLAF telethon. She was the East TN C.P. poster child for 4 straight years and was heavily involved in Christian parades. She was entertained by Knoxville celebrities Bill Williams, Ted Hall, and Clown Pat Berry and most of all she loved her church and was always playing Christian music. She was known by her special words "You love Missy", "I love you", "Come see Missy", Pray for Missy", and "I need your prayers".
Preceded in death by Mother: Naomi Kitts Gillum. Brother: Stephen R. Gillum.
Survived by Father: Howard Gillum Sr. of Jacksboro. Brothers and Sisters in Law: Rev. James R. "Kenny" and Connie Joyce Gillum of Jacksboro. Rev. Howard T. "Tom" JR and Shirley A. Gillum of Lafollette. Roger Lee and Louise Gillum of Lake City. Michael Lynn "Pee Wee" and Mary Francis Gillum of Randolph, AL. David Phillip "Rusty" and Carolyn Gillum of Jacksboro. Joel and Michelle Gillum of Montana. Primary Caregiver: Gretta Cooper of Lafollette.Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be 6 PM Sunday, January 4, 2009 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Rick Murphy, Rev. Kenny Gillum, Rev. O.P. Byrd and Rev. Albert Miller officiating. Interment will be 11 AM Monday in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Gillum and Rev Tom Gillum conducting services. The family will receive friends from 1 to 6 PM Sunday before funeral service.
