Marcella Cox McNeeley, age 80 of Lafollette passed away Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. Marcella was a member of Little Coolidge Baptist Church. She loved to spend time with her family, gardening, quilting, and writing gospel songs. She also loved playing the guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, banjo and piano and loved to sing.
Preceded in death by Parents: Thomas and Lassie Jordan Cox. Daughter: Bertha Kay Stokes. Step Son and Wife: Jimmy and Joyce Stokes. Brothers: James, Richard, Ovie, Everette and Rev. Millard Thelmore Cox. Sisters: Lillian Wishoun and Dorothy Chadwick.
Survived by Sons and Daughters in Law: Melvin and Sue Brandenburg of Jacksboro and Clifton Brandenburg of Lafollette. Daughters: Elaine Henegar and Sandra McNeeley both of Lafollette. Step Son: Coen Stokes of Lafollette. Step Son and Wife: Dennis and Eyvonne Stokes of Lafollette. Grandson and Wife: Melvin and Beth Brandenburg II. Granddaughter and Husband: Marcy and Dewayne Gibson. Grandsons: Jimmy and Timmy Bolton. Granddaughter: Stacy Thomason. Great Grandchildren: Bailey Ann Brandenburg, Johnathan Bolton and Tyler Thomason. Brothers: Frank, Wayne and Oscar Cox all of Lafollette and Benny Cox of Sale Creek, TN. Sister: Tennie Heatherly of Lafollette. Several nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be 8 PM Sunday, October 11, 2009 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Benny Cox and Rev. Sonny Longmire officiating. Interment will be 11 AM Monday in Bakers Forge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Sunday night before funeral service.
