Michael Kirby

Michael “Mike” Kirby age 69, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 21, 2026. Mike was born on September 24, 1956, to the late Daniel John and Truly Ward Kirby. Mike loved his country, watching and cheering on the UT Volunteers, driving his truck, talking to people, and spending time with his family and friends. Mike was an active member of Mountain View Independent Baptist Church, and his greatest love was telling people about Jesus.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Russell Kirby; infant brothers, David and Joseph Kirby; grandparents Robey and Maudie (McGhee) Ward; uncles, Ralph Ward, Clarence Ward, and Ernest Ward; and aunt, Pauline Ward Green.

Mike is survived by his wife, Debra “Debbie” (Herron) Kirby; sons, Justin Kirby, Tyler Kirby and wife Erica; daughters, Crystal Miranda Kirby, Kayla Skeene and husband DJ; brothers Danny Kirby and wife, Deloris and Anthony Kirby; aunts, Evadean Daughtery and Nadine Byrge; 7 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday September 30, 2026, at Mountain View Independent Baptist Church (behind Food Lion) from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with his funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM with his pastor Malachi Sandefur, Rev. Doug Stanley and Rev. George Asbury officiating. Family and friends will meet at 12:15 PM on Thursday October 1, 2026, at Martin Wilson Funeral Home to go in funeral procession to Powell Valley Cemetery for 1:00 PM graveside service with Rev. Bobby Hatfield officiating.

To honor the life of Mike, everyone is asked to wear Tennessee orange to the service and let the Holy Spirit be in control of the funeral.
