Mike Lynn Starrett

February 14, 1960 — January 30, 2015

Michael Lynn Starrett, age 54, of Jacksboro went home to be with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 30, 2015 at UT Medical Center. He was married to the love of his life Jerri. He had one son Justin, whom he loved greatly. He served Campbell County as a Deputy Sherriff for 4 years and for the past 12 years he has been a detective for the Jacksboro Police Department. Law enforcement was the joy & passion of his life. He was the president & founder of Sons of Justice Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club as well as a past president of the Defenders, Cumberland Gap Chapter. Mike was a very active member of the Indiana Avenue Baptist Church having served as the Sunday School Director. He was a mainstay in our dramas & plays, normally having the lead role. For the past 12 years he oversaw Shop with a Cop which impacted thousands of families and children of Campbell County having the true Christmas Story read so all would understand the true meaning of Christmas. Mike was also known for his humanitarian generosity to others helping many, many people. He truly was an amazing man who loved his Lord, wife, family, church and community.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Charlie & Anna Mae Cordell and Andrew & Naomi Starrett and Brother Mark Andreas Starrett.

He is survived by his parents AJ & Janice Starrett of LaFollette, wife Jerri Starrett of Jacksboro, son Justin Starrett of Ohio, brother Myron Starrett & wife Tonia of Andersonville, granddaughter Atira Ayers, nephews Brett Starrett, Mark Starrett, Jr. and Dylan Starrett, special friends Danny Chapman and MaKayla Wilson and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 9:00 pm on Wednesday, February 4, 2015. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 5, 2015 with Rev. Mark Partin & Rev. George Asbury officiating. The visitation and service will both be held at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Indiana Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund or Shop with a Cop.
