Monroe Sheckles, age 82, born on July 24, 1932 went to his eternal resting home on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Jacksboro, he retired from the City of LaFollette Street Dept after 28 years and was a 50 year Charter Member of High Knob Baptist Church where he attended faithfully until his illness. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and eating great food.
He was preceded in death by his parents Curtis Lee & Gladys (Smith) Sheckles and brother Fred Lee Sheckles.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Cardene (Dean) Sheckles; daughter & son-in-law Carolyn & Gary Aldridge; son & daughter-in-law Danny & Shelia Sheckles; grandchildren Chesni & Joe Orick, Travis & Carrie Forsyth, Justin & Carrie Aldridge and Matthew & Carlie Forsyth; great-grandchildren Briana Paige (who provided special care throughout his illness by her Papaw's side), Zane Steven, Aiden Todd, Katherine (Katie) Elizabeth and Kinsley Blake and several other family members & friends.
Family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 in the Martin Wilson Chapel with funeral service to follow at 8:00 pm with Rev. James Heatherly, Rev. Paul Hembree (longtime friend and cousin) and Bro. Danny Sheckles officiating. Interment will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in the Bakers Forge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers make donations to the Campbell County Cancer Society
