Onva K. Clotfelter

Onva K. Clotfelter, a longtime resident of Campbell County, passed away on Feb,21,2022 at the age of 91, born on June 4th, 1930, in Jacksboro TN. He was one of 7 children born to the late Howard and Della Clotfelter, Onva was raised in Jacksboro and was a graduate of Jacksboro High school and received a B.S. from Lincoln Memorial University where he was a member of Alpha Chi Fraternity.

As a noncommissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force, he flew to many parts of the world and was part of several military campaigns. He was the recipient of 3 Bronze Stars for his service .

Professionally, Onva enjoyed a long-term career at the Y-12 facility and worked on many projects including dismantling Oak Ridge's Hydrogen bomb capabilities and construction of part of the Space shuttle.

In his private time, he served as chairman of the CJUC and a longtime member of the Gideons, he was an active church member, Onva taught Sunday school for over 40 years and for many years, he presented lecture series at several churches and his classes were broadcasted on WLAF radio in Lafollette.

Onva was proceeded in death by his wife Florene Clotfelter, his mother and father: daughter Joyce Clotfelter, brothers: Larry, Verlon, Charles, and sisters Geneva, Ernestine and Jackie.

He is survived by his wife Bernice Clotfelter, sons Wayne Clotfelter of Caryville and Greg Clotfelter of Arlington TN.: his grandchildren, Stephen Leach, Haley Clotfelter Hug, and Sophia Clotfelter: one great granddaughter, Saige Hug.

The family will receive friends on Friday February 25, 2022 from 1 – 2 PM with a graveside service to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery with Rev. Lee Ray officiating with military honors being presented by the Campbell County Honor Guard.

The family has entrusted the care of Onva K. Clotfelter to Martin Wilson Funeral Home "Where Families Matter Most."
