Ramona Ann Brown, age 65, flew to Heaven to join her beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 4, 2026. Born and raised in Pineville, KY, Mona (as friends and family called her) was an incredibly smart, ambitious, Christian woman who went on to create a beautiful life for herself and her family in Grapevine, Texas.
Mona loved the Texas Hill Country, hosting the best holiday parties on her block, and being a devoted band mom. She cherished traveling far and wide to band competitions for her son, Dylan, always making sure the best snacks and the best times were had by all. In her later years, Mona embraced adventure, traveling the United States from the East Coast to the West Coast in her Sprinter van, listening to Fleetwood Mac with her precious dog, Callie, and the wind in here hair. She took in countless beautiful sights and lighthouses along her journey yet never lost her deep lover for the Great Smoky Mountains. She found joy in good Southern meals, warm coffee, breathtaking sunsets, and time on the water with her son, Dylan. Mona had many roles in her life, but her most cherished was being Mon to her son, Dylan Tyler Brown.
As she was called home in the quiet shadow of Easter, a season of resurrection and promise, her passing carries a meaning deeper than words can hold. In the same time that the world reflects on renewal and everlasting life, Mona stepped gently into that promise. Now each Easter will arrive not only with the hope it has always carried, but with the nearness of her memory woven into sunrise light, into quiet prayers, and into the enduring assurance that love does not fade, and life does not end, but is forever changed. Though she will be dearly missed, her family takes comfort in God’s grace, knowing Mona is happily and eternally watching over them from Heaven.
May we find her in the mountains she loved, the sunsets she chased, and the open road that always leads her home.
Mona is preceded in death by her parents, Bill J. Smith Sr. and Susie Taylor Smith; and brother, Bill Smith Jr.
She is survived by her son, Dylan Tyler Brown and girlfriend Alexis of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Amy Smith and husband Greg of 4 Mile, KY; one grandchild on the way, Benjamin “Benji” Brown; nephews, Tacoma Smith and wife Sarah, Hunter Hendrickson, and Dustin Smith; niece, Ally Smith; great nephew, Waylon Jameson Kane Smith; and a host of other relatives and friends.
John 11:25-26 “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die: and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”
