Rex Ervin Hickey

Rev. Rex Ervin Hickey, Sr. age 51 of Jacksboro passed away Friday April 29, 2011 at UT Medical Center. He never lost his battle with cancer, but won the final victory. He was a member of New Freedom Community Baptist Church. Rex loved spoiling his grandson. He enjoyed preaching and doing the worship service at the LaFollette Assisted Living Center for several years. He was a member of the Jacksboro Masonic lodge # 322, coached football, and taught school in the Campbell County school system for 25 years. He also worked for the LaFollette Press and Volunteer Times. He retired from LaFollette Middle School in 2008.
Preceded in death by Father: Albert Ervin Hickey and Grandparents.
Survived by Wife of 24 years Tina Hickey of Jacksboro, Sons Rex Ervin Hickey II of Jacksboro and Bryce Jordan Hickey and wife Kara of Jacksboro, Mother Nancy Hickey of Jacksboro, Grandson Aiden Bryce Hickey, Father and Mother in law, Cecil and Mabel Phillips of Caryville, as well as a Host of relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 8 PM Monday, May 2, 2011 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Bro. Larry Kitts, Brother Dowell Phillips and Rick Claiborne officiating. Interment will be 11 AM Tuesday May 3 in Powell Valley Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4 until 8 PM Monday before funeral service
