Richard Phillips

May 10, 1918 — September 16, 2008

Rev. Richard Phillips, age 90 of Jacksboro passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at the St. Mary's Hospice in Knoxville. He was a member of Cumberland View Baptist Church and a minister of the gospel for 59 years. He pastored Round Rock, Shiloh and Vasper Baptist Churches and was an evangelist for several years. Mr. Phillips was a veteran of World War II.

Preceded in death by Parents: James and Lithia Carroll Phillips. Brothers: Arthur Braden, Pevey, General and Alfred Phillips. Sisters: Martha Phillips, Cynthia Bray, Amanda Phillips, and Ollie Duncan.

Survived by Wife: Margaret Phillips of Jacksboro. Son and Daughter in Law: Rick and Judy Phillips of Chattanooga. Son: Lindell Lee Phillips of Knoxville. Grandchildren: Allison Ann Phillips of Knoxville, Melissa Ann Phillips of Chattanooga, and Lindell Lee Phillips Jr. of US Army Columbia, SC. Brother: Arkus Braden of Fraterville.

Funeral Service will be 8 PM Thursday, September 18, 2008 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Bobby Ray Wilson and Rev. Billy Ross Goins officiating. Interment will be 1 PM Friday in Campbell Memorial Gardens with full military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday night before funeral service.
