R.L. Baird

January 18, 1938 — January 4, 2011

RL Baird age 72 of Lafollette was called away to walk the streets of Glory with Jesus. He passed from his mortal to his eternal life at his home on January 4th. He whole heartedly loved his family and was an active member of Friendship Community Church of God. RL was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, camping, and 4- wheeling. He also enjoyed working, singing, and playing his guitar.

Preceded in death by Parents: Sam C. and Samantha (Smiddy) Baird. Brothers: Leon and Johnnie Baird. Sisters: Evelyn Campbell, Eldora Baird, and Barbara Richardson.

Survived by Wife: Virgie Baird. Children: Penny Baird of LaFollete, Johnny Blankenship and Wife: Shannon of Jellico, Lloyd Graves and Wife: Rhonda of Jacksboro, Barbara Stanfill and Husband: Jimmy of Bristol, VA. Sharan Harness and Husband: Jimmy of Scott Co. Russell Baird and Wife: Kim of Jellico. Grandchildren: Ashley McMahan, Justin Graves, Jaimie Harness, Christian Chew and Husband: David, Corey Harness, Kristin Graves, Chase Stanfill, Lauren Graves, Ashton Blankenship, Hunter Baird. Great Grandchildren: Hannah and Mattie McMahan, Kailey and Sara Grace. Sisters: Ruth Baird, Leona Smiddy, Jean Morgan, Martha Baird of Lafollette and Mary Wilburn of Jacksboro. Brother: Monroe Baird of WA. And a host of Relatives and Friends.

A sincere appreciation goes out to the staffs of St. Mary's Hospice and Tennessee Respiratory Services, and a Great Friend: Carl Martin.

Funeral service will be 2 PM Saturday, January 8th at Friendship Community Church of God with Rev. Andrew Ayers, Rev. Darrell Reese, Rev. Bobby Franklin, and Rev. Carl Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Davis Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Friday night at the funeral home.

Martin Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
