Roger Lee Barnes

Roger Lee Barnes, age 76 of Jacksboro, entered into his heavenly home on Friday, July 22, 2022. He was born August 28,1945 to the late George and Rosa (Thurman) Barnes. Roger was of the Baptist Faith and loved his family very much especially his great grandchildren who could bring a smile to his face faster than anything. He enjoyed playing his handheld poker games and watching sports especially baseball as he was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Roger's biggest enjoyment was playing baseball with his great grandsons Bentley and Maddox in the front yard or listening and watching them play baseball on gamechanger.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Herschel, Paris, Blaine, and Harold Wayne Barnes.

Roger is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Lay) Barnes of Jacksboro; his loving son, Kenny Barnes and fiancé Kim Wilson of Jacksboro; brother, Michael Barnes and wife, Ella of Caryville; sister, Katherine Phillips of Ohio; granddaughters, Jessica Freeman and husband, Jason of Speedwell, Brittany Broughton and husband, Nathan of Corbin, Kentucky; the great grandchildren that brought so much happiness to him; Lauren, Gaige, Bentley, Maddox, Canon, Tylee and Kaelin; several nieces, nephews, and host of other relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Amedisys Hospice for their loving care that was shown to Roger and the family during his time under their care.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 26th, 2022 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Sampson Ridenour officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 AM on Wednesday, July 27th at the funeral home to go in funeral procession to Queener Cemetery for an 11:00 AM interment.
