Ruth Owens

Ruth Owens, age 85 of Jacksboro passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at the St. Mary's Hospice in Knoxville. She was a member of Cherry Bottom Baptist Church. Ruth loved the Lord, her children, going to church, and singing. She enjoyed quilting, cooking and her flowers. She also enjoyed talking to her friends.

Preceded in death by Husband: Herbert Owens. Parents: Lory and Ida Reed Marcum. Brothers: Homer, Clifford, and Ralph Marcum. Sisters: Bertha Atkins, Edna Ford, Thelma Stanley and Nadine Meredith.

Survived by Son: Everett Owens of Jacksboro. Sons and Daughters in Law: Jerry and Ruth Owens and James and Sandra Owens all of Jacksboro. Harley and Donna Owens of Lafollette. Daughter and Son in Law: Jewel and Ralph Hutson of Caryville. 16 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren. Sister: Grace Baird. Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be 11 AM Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Cherry Bottom Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Howard and Rev. Michael Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Campbell Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 PM Friday night in Martin Wilson Chapel.
