Sam Carroll

June 15, 1925 — January 24, 2011

Sam Carroll age 85 of Lafollette passed away Monday, January 24, 2011 at the St. Mary's Medical Center in Campbell Co. He was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church. He retired from Lafollette Utilities after 31 years and was a 50 year member of the Campbell Co. Masonic Lodge 778 F&AM, member of the grand lodge the free and accepted masons of TN. He was raised a master mason 3/26/55, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner of Knoxville. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the lakes, outdoors, yard work, and most of all his garden. He loved to be with his grandchildren and family. He was a veteran of World War II having received several ribbons including EAME service metals with 2 bronze service stars, American theatre service metal, good conduct metal, and World War II victory metal.

Preceded in death by Parents: Shird and Oma Hubbard Carroll, Brother: Shan Carroll, Sister: Ruby Leach.

Survived by Wife: Betty Carroll of Lafollette, Sons: Martin Byrd and Wife: Melissa of Powell, Timothy Carroll and Wife Jennifer of Lafollette, Daughters: Bridgette Byrd, Rose Michelle Whitaker and Husband: Jeff, Sharon Sebrina North and Husband: Rodney all of Powell, Grandchildren: Cassidy, Luke, Eric, Austin, Alexis, Russell, Sabrina, and Brandon. Brother: Fred Carroll and Wife: Lois of Lafollette, Sister: Mabel Ridenour of Aiken, SC. Several nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

Masonic service will be 7:45 PM and funeral service will follow at 8 PM Wednesday, January 26th at Cedar Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Arnold officiating. Interment will be 1 PM Thursday in Campbell Memorial Gardens with the Campbell Co. Honor Guard in charge of graveside service. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:45 at Cedar Hill Baptist Church.
