Shelby York

Shelby York age 90 of Lafollette went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 5, 2010 at the St. Mary's Medical Center in Campbell County. He was a member of Fincastle Church of God. Shelby enjoyed spending time with his family and attending church. He was an active board member of Model Valley Development Council where he had served for over 30 years. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him and by those that he so deeply touched.

Preceded in death by Wife: Mildred Letner York. Daughter: Shirley Ward. Father: Frank York. Mother: Christina Gipson York. Stepmother: Sarah York. Brothers: Sherman and Junior York.

Survived by Daughter and Son in Law: Tammy and John Hoover of Hillsboro, Ohio. Grandchildren: Heather and Dustin Brock of Caryville, Nathan Hoover of Lafollette and Kendra Hoover of Ohio. Great Grandchildren: Caden, Shelby and Madeline Brock. Brother and Sister in Law: Charles and Edna York of Clairfield. Sisters and Brother in Law: Loretta Vandergriff of Jacksboro and Georgia and Virgil Cox of Clairfield. Son in Law: Charles Ward of Lafollette. Sister in Law: Ruth York of Oliver Springs.

Funeral Service will be 8 PM Sunday, January 9, 2011 at Fincastle Church of God with Rev. Mike Smith and Rev. John Hoover officiating. Interment will be 2 PM Monday in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Sunday night before funeral service at the church.
