Shirley Imogene Vitatoe

Shirley Imogene Vitatoe, age 88 of Caryville, departed this life on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born August 8, 1935, to the late Jake Silcox and Pearl Silcox Byrd. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother that enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed quilting and going to the beach with her sisters when she was able.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Herman Vitatoe; son Gary Vitatoe; brothers Henry, Estel, Boyce Silcox; sister Stella Silcox

Shirley is survived by her daughters Mary "Joan" Evans of Maynardville and Becky Blankenship of Caryville; brother Ricky Silcox and wife Cathy of Caryville; sisters Brenda Cox of Caryville and Lois Ayers and Danny of Jacksboro; 7 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 12:00-1:00 PM on Saturday, March 9, 2024, in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home, 305 E. Beech Street LaFollette, with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Don Whited officiating. Interment to follow funeral service at Campbell Memorial Gardens.
