James D. Hoskins

James D. Hoskins, age 92, of Speedwell departed peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 15, 2022. He was born on December 2, 1929 to the late Chester and Mattie (Taylor) Hoskins. He was a Shriner and a member of Masonic Lodge Valley Star 577.

In addition to his parents, James is proceeded in death by his wife, Mollie Winters Hoskins, and daughter Tammie Hoskins; sisters, Leatrice “Lea” Johnson, Betty Prater, and Shelby Hopper.

He is survived by his sons, Eddie Hoskins and wife Tammy of Speedwell, Jimmie Hoskins and wife Rebecca of Speedwell; daughter, Jennie Phillips and husband Benny of Shady Cove; 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday June 17, 2022 from 5 PM to 7 PM in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home with a Masonic Service at 7 PM. The family will meet on Saturday June 18, 2022 at 9:15 AM to go in funeral procession to the Academy Cemetery for a 10 AM graveside service with Rev. Eddie Hoskins officiating.

The family would like to thank Marcy, Rebecca, and Georgianna of Covenant Hospice for their wonderful care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children or the Valley Star Lodge #577.
